Title: Howl's Moving Castle
Author: Diana Wynne Jones
Pages: 304
From the Godmother of Fantasy, Diana Wynne Jones, discover the land of Ingary, where magic and adventure awaits…

In the land of Ingary, where seven league boots and cloaks of invisibility do exist, Sophie Hatter catches the unwelcome attention of the Witch of the Waste and is put under a spell.

Deciding she has nothing more to lose, she makes her way to the moving castle that hovers on the hills above Market Chipping. But the castle belongs to the dreaded Wizard Howl whose appetite, they say, is satisfied only by the souls of young girls… There she meets Michael, Howl’s apprentice, and Calcifer the Fire Demon, with whom she agrees a pact.

But Sophie isn’t the only one under a curse – her entanglements with Calcifer, Howl, and Michael, and her quest to break her curse is both gripping – and howlingly funny!

I started yesterday, only read one chapter. It's like a fairy tale, with witches, wizards, and so on. :D

Yesterday I read the capters 2 and 3.

I have to admit that Fanny cheated me
in the same way she cheated Sophia. I thought Fanny was a good mother or stepmother, however she is a witch, another kind of witch

I'm still in May Day, started today and I'm loving it
I saw Miyazaki's film several years ago, and I don't remember much of it so I don't know if it's true to the book; I didn't remember about the three sisters and the hats shop so I supose not much :cunao:
I can't wait for Sophie to meet Howl and be the sister with the adventurous life :D

I don't remember in which chapter I stopped yesterday, maybe six or seven.

Sophie's adventures have just started, she has became
and old clening lady, and it's so funny her behavour.
I know Howl, and far from being a heartless Wizard who
eats the young ladies hearts, he is a easy loving young and a heartbreaker. He loves the part of conquer and then he disappears. His new target is Martha, Sophie's sister.
It's funny and easy to read. I'm enjoying with this book.

Started yesterday evening, read chapters 1 & 2.

So far I like it. I agree it starts like a fairy tale, not only because of the witches and wizards but also the composition. It does not say "Once upon at time..." but it does make you feel as having said so.

Diana plays with opposites to catch you but with no cheat, maybe a bit calling to your own prejudgement:
Sophie introduced as the oldest and well read, and then she is the most naive of the sisters.
Fanny seems a good mother for the three of them, and then she is but a clever witch (pun intended) who manages to get rid of Letti and Martha and keeps Sophie to take advantage of her naivety.
The old when you are young is the young when you are old.
So far, so good!

I don't remember again in which chapter i stopped yesterday, but I'm in 51%

Well, I don't like this book a lot. In a sense it's very childish or crazy, but no crazy like Pratchett books. And well there are a lot of things happen but I have the sense that nothing happens it's very slow.

Well, I'm going on.

I'm with chapter 3 now, I'm going slow because it's been a bit difficult for me, there are a lot of new vocabulary, and although I try not to stop too much, sometimes I need to check the dictionary
Anyway I'm enjoying this book a lot, it's like a fairty tale, with witches, curses, and crazy things going on.
