A pity there is no butler at Styles Only Dorcas, and she seems to be very respectable and devoted to her mistress. But then you never know, human nature being what it is (as Miss Marple would say).

Me neither. But it makes you feel that he's guilty when the most probable (in my opinion)gaditana escribió:I´ve read the first chapter. I don´t like Alfred!
it's that he won't be the murderer |
The character I like most is Poirot I like the way he acts; he never show his emotions, he just only analyze and try to relate everything.

How are you finding the writing? Are sentences too long? Words too difficult? Easy to follow? Do you think her language is direct or does she convey mystery through twisted expressions?

Dear friends, I'm a little bit out of here lately, I began in a new job all of a sudden and some other circumstances are shortening my time a lot... I hope to get back to routine soon. |

I read til chapter 5 and 6 and I've found it very interesting
I've got a question related to the way of writing, in chapter 6 at the beginning the main character goes to a farm and speak to someone, but this guy speaks very odd, like:
"You'm from the Hall, bain't you?"
[...] "More'n once too." (I suppose that here it could be than)
What does it mean?
the topic of the last will destroyed; the fact that they've discovered the body has been poisoned with strychnine; the inquest, and the difficulty to not guilt Mr. Inglethorp althought he makes it difficult to answer right and telling "the truth" . But I'm still thinking that he's not guilty |

Agatha Christie is imitating the strange way peasants speak English and their creative use of the grammar English peasants are not much better in their ways of speaking than Spanish ones!! "You'm from the Hall, bain't you?" shoud be "You're from the Hall, aren't you?"
I found this scene very funny, with poor captain Hastings trying to figure out what this man "who leered at him cunningly" was saying

At the end of Chapter 12 I laughed a lot, not because there was something funny, but by the words:

Don't worry Dulce, if you finally find the time, you can write your comments here, if you rather join May MC, (I don't remember right now if it's Mitch Albom's...) we'll be glad to see you there too.

I couldn't make it for this MC either I hope I will be able to attend the one in May, although I find it quite tough because my maternity leave will be over and I will have to get back to work and I also have exams in May. As soon as we have the title decided I will try to find it in paper format, and if I can, I will join the MC. I find it difficult to read in digital format because I don't have an e-reader...
Cheers!

Tangerine, it is already decided. I'll write a post with the three following MCs in English. Nevertheless, we can propose more, make more MCs and join as many as we want.

I've already finished the book, and I've enjoyed it very much!
To be the first book of Agatha C. read I like it very much: the plot, the characters, how to link things, to know the guilty... Above all, I like Poirot's character
But the most surprising it is the end

it was Mr Inglethorp the guilty! I couldn't belive it, at last it's what Nieves said before that the easiest solution is the correct one |
